Occasionally I go browsing through my old posts via “roll the die” on my sidebar (the dots in the top right corner of this page, in case you’ve never noticed). And this morning I hit upon a great cure for my very dry winter eyes:
I originally posted this video on April 15, 2009. Hard to believe it was that long ago. Susan Boyle‘s audition for “Britain’s Got Talent” reportedly was viewed 5 times more often than President Obama’s inauguration that year.

I remember the original video and briefly followed to make sure she did OK.
There’s another one for which I had almost the same reaction:

She’s done OK as well.
Oh my! She’s amazing. I seem to recall another young girl singing like this, but she was English speaking. There was speculation at the time that a youngster singling like this would strain and ruin her voice, but I think she went on to a professional career. We are occasionally blessed with prodigies like this, perhaps to remind us to never give up hope in the human race. Now would be a good time for another such reminder.
I think this is the girl I was thinking of:

Yup. Had seen her as well.
I can’t match any of that, but I can do this:

Well, it was good for a laugh. And I can certainly use more of those. thx!
I agree about the human race. The best among us can be truly astonishing. There is a current trend on YouTube, don’t know if you’ve seen them,, that blows me away, those which show celebrities morphing from young people to old ones, or vice-versa. The pictures mostly abound with health, beauty and vitality. It helps to be reminded in these fraught times, as you say, of the potential out there.
Humans can possess the most incredible talents, and those talents can emerge in the most unexpected places.
I’ve not come across the age morphing thing. Is it actual photographs, or AI morphing, like the “youngifying” for movies? Both can be pretty remarkable.
So glad you posted this
Just made me smile.
Somewhere there is sanity in the world
Tired of the anger and intolerance and viciousness
What happened to not stomping little feet and complaining but instead coming up with real solutions that help everyone? Oh, wait. The school stopped focusing on higher level thinking skills in the mid ’80’s
Maybe we need more musicals to sing along with?
REAL solutions? That help EVERYONE? What is this strangeness of which you speak?
