This is negotiating? This is diplomacy? This is the American “president”?
Attacking, insulting, lecturing, bullying the visiting president of another nation.
I am mortified. Disgusted. Sickened. This is outrageous behavior from the president of the United States.
I can’t believe voters elected him and Congress let him get this far.
Enough!
“In a world of complex threats, our security and leadership depends on all elements of our power – including strong and principled diplomacy.”
—Barack Obama

He got into politics because no one in the business world wanted to work with him.
True. He cheated and stiffed everyone who did business with him. And he bankrupted several businesses along the way. I still can’t believe that, given his history, anyone voted for him.
one of the worst things I’ve ever seen in my life, I was watching live and was crying
I was in tears too. And have been off and on ever since.
johnthecook…what we were allowed to hear in the Oval Office was difficult to listen to, but at least we got to hear it. What will the outcome be, only time will tell. With out Americas Aid to Ukraine, Russia would have already taken what they wanted from Ukraine. Russia got what they wanted from Crimea. Maybe a little shouting in the Oval Office then, would have prevented Russia from doing what they did to Crimea.
I didn’t think for a minute that Crimea would be the end of it. Putin doesn’t want just a piece; he wants the whole pie. That’s why Russians are still in Ukraine. But now, instead of diplomacy, financial pressure, negotiation, and aid to Ukraine, Trump is siding with Putin. He’s demanding a treaty that gives him access to Ukraine’s rare earth minerals and gives Putin half of Ukraine. We have one thug trying to appease another by giving away half a country that doesn’t belong to either of them. I’ve never been more ashamed of my country.
Don’t kid yourself: it was shown live specifically because those two (_¤_)s wanted everyone to see how “tough” they are.
All it showed was how utterly contemptible they are and how very stupid.
I had the same impression, MR, that Vance and Trump were grandstanding to the cameras. It was red meat for the neo-Nazis and isolationists.
We are seeing the effects of his actions in my country and the prime minister keeps quiet. We are seeing the nation being divided on the basis of religion and people getting brainwashed. God only knows where this will end.
I am deeply embarrassed that anything happening here is affecting you. I don’t know where all this is going to lead, but having a thug and a bully running this country is not going to end well. It’s already been worse than I’d ever imagined.
It is a tragedy that we all have to face.
Or anyone had, Colorado.
johnthecook… thugs and bullies or idiots and morons…one is no better than the other. Let’s choose our poison well! A little sugar does not always help the “medicine” go down and “rope-a-dope will eventually wear you down!
I thought Zelensky responded with dignity, hard to do under such an attack from two bullies.
I was impressed that he stayed so calm, trying to be reasonable with two attackers who had no intention of being reasonable. To see him ambushed and deliberately savaged by two American thugs in the White House still has me spitting curses.
