At last week’s G-8 Summit in Europe, video cameras caught our very own President Bush giving German Chancellor Angela Merkel an unexpected, uninvited back rub as he passed behind her.
Where I come from, a move like that in public by any man toward any woman constitutes sexual harassment. A gentleman never, ever lays a finger on a woman without an invitation! Being president does not somehow exempt or excuse him. Indeed, he should be more acutely aware than anyone else.
George W. Bush has let down this country in so many ways. Apparently we can’t even trust him to comport himself as a gentleman and diplomat. How very, very sad for all of us.
