With tens of thousands of Haitians dead or dying in the aftermath of Tuesday’s earthquake, two well-known Americans stepped up to address the tragedy:
Tonight Jon Stewart blasted both Pat Robertson and Bill O’Reilly for playing politics with the disaster, and to be fair, he also slammed MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow for doing the same thing. He made his point without resorting to the only language I can think of to describe how despicable these two men are. They are such total asses that even with something as horrible as the Haiti quake, they take to their podiums to question whether Haitians deserve to be helped and whether they haven’t brought the disaster upon themselves.
For those Haitians still trapped and awaiting rescue, time has almost run out. Conditions there are dismal and only getting worse as nations of the world struggle to deliver aid via the one serviceable runway at the airport. The port is destroyed; the major roads are filled with debris and bodies, and remain impassible. Relief is going to take time, and many Haitians are already out of time.
The live reports today from Haiti were heart-wrenching, and yet those on camera were the lucky ones. At least they’d been found.
Robertson and O’Reilly? I hope heartless bastards like that end up someplace a lot hotter than they’re expecting.

March 26, 2011: Someone’s recent visit to this page prompted me to look back to see who the “meanest men” were. That’s when I noticed the O’Reilly video was no longer working. I tried to track it down, with no luck. What I did discover, in checking The Daily Show’s archives, was that Stewart spoke of Robertson, Limbaugh, and Maddow; O’Reilly wasn’t mentioned. Beats me what I was thinking (or not thinking, at 1:30 am) when I wrote the above, or what could have been in that O’Reilly video. In any case, to set the record straight, here’s the Stewart commentary:
