There’s a common rock climbing maneuver — the technical name of which, if there is one, escapes me — that involves moving up or down in a narrow space by bracing one’s back against one wall and hands and feet against the opposite wall. My feline friend here will demonstrate:

Sounds like you resurrected my brother’s golden retriever. The dog figured out early on that the objective on most hikes and climbs was the top. It wasn’t long before he’d disappear and be found on top waiting patiently for my brother to finally get there.
