Fern Lake fire lines hold

Good news on the Fern Lake Fire burning near Estes Park. Although winds gusted to more than 60 mph overnight, fire lines held and the fire did not advance toward Estes. At 11 am, local TV stations are reporting that the wind actually drove the fire to the northwest, back on itself. Short of rain or snow, that’s the best thing Mother Nature could do to help firefighters.

  1. Well the wind direction change is good news at least. I haven’t been following this, but now I see why you’re wanting precipitation so much!

  2. Fires in December….. And we have been consistently 10-20 degrees above average this year. Been in the mid-60’s here for most of November. Only slightly more than half the average rain. I’m actually rather shocked we’ve not had any fires down here in the bosque.
