Good news on the Fern Lake Fire burning near Estes Park. Although winds gusted to more than 60 mph overnight, fire lines held and the fire did not advance toward Estes. At 11 am, local TV stations are reporting that the wind actually drove the fire to the northwest, back on itself. Short of rain or snow, that’s the best thing Mother Nature could do to help firefighters.
Well the wind direction change is good news at least. I haven’t been following this, but now I see why you’re wanting precipitation so much!
It’s so insanely dry here that I’d dance naked in the street for a good two inches of rain or twenty inches of snow, depending on the temp. (Mama Nature would probably deliver just to get me out of the street!)
Careful PT. Mother Nature has a pretty twisted sense of humor! 😆
Ya think? 😯
Happy dance. Thanks Mother Nature!
No kidding. They said its still too gusty up there for air drops, but there are twice as many firefighters on the ground now as there were Friday night.
Fires in December….. And we have been consistently 10-20 degrees above average this year. Been in the mid-60’s here for most of November. Only slightly more than half the average rain. I’m actually rather shocked we’ve not had any fires down here in the bosque.
Yep, that’s about the same as here. I’ll be running the hoses this winter trying to ensure the survival of the trees and shrubs I put in last spring.
