S.E. Cupp takes MSNBC to a new low

  1. Wait, just give me a moment to blot the coffee off my chin and the screen.

    There, that’s better. 😆

Actually though, I don’t really think this was meant to be “news”, it’s political musing and the subject probably ought to be taken more seriously. If women from both sides of the political aisle can engage in discourse and be civil to one another I do think that sets a worthy example that the guys ought to emulate. And speaking of women senators, I was delighted to note in my morning paper that Sen. Claire McCaskel of my home state has been in the forefront of criticizing wasteful infrastructure spending in Afghanistan and Iraq, truthfully pointing out that our own infrastructure here at home is crumbling and that doing it overseas is not winning us the love and affection that billions and billions of dollars ought to do. That said of course, our Claire was a state auditor and that probably has more to do with her effectiveness than her uterus.

    1. No, it wasn’t meant to be news. “The Cycle” is a panel discussion. MSNBC is almost all commentary now. If only BBC would go 24/7. Perhaps they realize that if they do, they’ll inevitably resort to inanity to fill the time. I love Claire McCaskel. There are some outstanding women in Washington and I wish there were more. Liz Warren is my favorite. Oh, and I check for brains, not reproductive organs.

  2. Definitely not the kind of thing I tune to a “news” channel to watch PT. That’s more the kind of thing I’d expect to find on daytime talk shows like The View. On the other hand, it is kinda funny, and not that far from the truth. After all, Washington is a very male dominated environment, and it’s pretty clear the males in charge aren’t thinking with the same heads heads that you and I think with! 😆

    1. Yes, I think you nailed it. Much like The View or, what’s the other one, The Talk. You’re also correct about how the men in DC seem to think. 😉

RE the news vs. commentary, you might find this interesting: The Changing TV News Landscape. It’s from an extensive Pew report, The State of the News Media 2013: An Annual Report on American Journalism. This section confirms what I’ve observed, but there’s much, much more in the report to sift through.

  3. I’m a bit surprised, PT, you haven’t heard about SE Cupp until recently. She was on Fox a lot before getting this gig as a house “conservative” at MSNBC. She is notorious for getting her facts wrong. And she is far from the brightest mirror in the bar room. This Cycle is a show designed after Fox’s “The Five,” that dumbs down america each weekday afternoon. Well, both shows do.

Oh, I hope you get the New Yorker. I thought about you when reading this week’s issue. An article called, Draft No.4 by John McPhee. Much about copy editing at the New Yorker.

    1. I never watch Fox. So, lucky me, never made Ms. Cupp’s acquaintance. She thought she was so clever. And who should jump on the bandwagon with her but another dimwit named Krystal Ball. I couldn’t change channels fast enough. I never see the New Yorker but I’ll look for that article.

Go ahead, you can say it ...
