Trump’s Tulsa rally in one picture

June 21, 2020 — Trump’s rally in Tulsa yesterday took place in the Bank of America Center, which has a seating capacity of 19,000 to 20,000. It appears he fell short of that by at least a third. Disappointing for him, no doubt, but less of a coronavirus superspreader than was feared by health officials. Still, attendees were closely packed behind the podium to create better optics, and most of them were not wearing masks.

Prior to the indoor event, Trump had planned a speech outdoors in an overflow area where a crowd of some 40,000 was anticipated. That speech was canceled for lack of attendance, and tv coverage showed the area virtually empty.

____________

Tulsa fire marshals said attendance at the rally was approximately 6,200.

  1. There was an AP photo of Trump walking from the plane (helicopter?) to the White House after returning from Tulsa. His tie was undone and just hanging from either side of his open shirt collar. I don’t recall ever seeing a picture of a President in that state of dress. He looked completely deflated. I think that picture really captured the reality of the Tulsa experience.

... and that's my two cents
