This video is long — 22 minutes — but I couldn’t stop watching when I stumbled across it. And I did need a tissue before it was over. The world needs a lot more people like Rocky Kanaka.
I read the notes after watching, and it turns out Kanaka is a dog rescue advocate (and a spokesman for his favorite dog food company, but that’s okay). He has a website that I intend to explore a bit later.
(The video was posted just one year after I brought Charlie home. Maybe November is a special month for rescuing dogs.)
If you watched all of that first video, you’ll surely want to watch the next one. It’s a follow-up about what happened to this dog. (And confirmation that I wasn’t the only one who thought “viszla” while watching the first video.)
Long story short, I wish I had more of me — a younger me, that could still sit on the floor — and a million dollars to spend on dog rescues.

I’ve watched lots of Rocky’s videos, Colorado – he is obviously doing terrific work .. you can see how he breaks down some kind of barrier with every dog he sits with. It’s lovely; and especially lovely because you know he’s bringing the message to so many people ..
I’m a cat person, as you know; but I love all animals (except rats) and dogs very much. Rocky is a ripper ! 😀
I only just discovered him today. I’ve missed so much! I’ve just browsed his website, but I can’t watch any more of his videos right now. I get too emotional watching all those pups so in need of love and kindness.
P.S. I don’t even preclude rats. I once had a science fair project involving rats and my mom actually let me have a half dozen of them in the basement. I kept one as a pet for some months afterwards. (Admittedly they were lab rats, not wild ones.)
Yer a noble woman then. You know the British naturalist David Attenborough ? – he truly loves all animals – except rats.

Oh I absolutely know him! I’ll drop everything to watch one of his shows. He is the naturalist’s naturalist, the last word in conservation, environmentalism, etc.
(I feel obliged to explain my rats were lab rats obtained from the local medical center. And not even all white but “hooded,” white with black or brown heads and shoulders. Not that different from guinea pigs or hamsters.)
Yerss .. I think your “rats” are far from those which Attenborough (and I !) speaks of. [grin]
I know the ones of which you speak. Encountered one as a kid — it came up into a toilet from the sewer and I found it when I lifted the lid. Dropped the lid, ran to Mom, rat disappeared from whence it came. Ugh!!
