Not buying it

  1. She looks so normal ! What in the name of all the gods makes someone who looks as she does decide she wants to be on the insane side ?!
    (Rhetorical ..)

    1. Yep, I wondered the same thing. So normal, so well spoken, so seemingly well educated. The All American girl. So disarmingly sweet. Obviously chosen to counter the perception of MAGA as ignorant sheeple.

  2. I saw her response and I was, quite frankly, appalled. I was horrified to hear her talk about the poor trafficked woman she met; she failed to mention if this woman was a victimized refuge. What was the point of that story other than to portray immigrants as dangerous sociopathic criminals with no regard for others? What an amazing performance of feigned emotional sorrow and outrage! I looked her up online and quickly discovered that she was a cosponsor of the border legislation bill and worked on finalizing the package; then she voted against it for political reasons. How dare she put out something like this.

I got another Covid booster today. Everyone in the Kaiser clinic was wearing a mask. As this young woman asked America if they were better or worse off today, I thought to myself that I am worse off because of the flagrant disregard for public (health) safety and negative leadership shown by Trump and his administration. One million Americans died, and many of us are trying to navigate a world that is unsafe for us in large part because of the politicization of a virus. I saw a video of Trump saying that like a miracle, one day it (Covid) would just disappear. His hand gesture was of the pandemic curve that we’ve all see. What he got out of the graph was if he didn’t do anything, the pandemic would end on its own. The lies, the attacks on science and medical professionals, the anti-mask movement, the absolute disregard for our fellow citizens, the disparagement of people who need vaccine boosters… all of this is at the door of these emotional, whining about the border and personal safety MAGA people. I will never forgive them.

    Take that, Katie Britt!

    1. She was a sponsor of that bill and STILL vetoed it!? What a hypocrite. Totally in the thrall of Trump. Does she not know what he thinks of attractive young women?

  3. I agree with the post and all the other comments about it. And the one other thing I noticed besides all the posturing and lies was her trembling voice as she recounted the migrant trafficking story as well as other alleged Biden horrors. Was that stage fright, or just feigned fear for the credulous in the audience? What a whining, hypocritical “moran!” Just like all the rest of the gutless zombie GOPers kissing Hair Furor’s posterior. The crucifix was the icing on the cake. I guess she represents the best they can offer? No, more like pandering to the female voters, I suppose. Identifying with the average “housewife?”

    1. Pandering to women of child-bearing age for sure. And to young voters in general. They wouldn’t win over any centrists or leftists if they put up a grizzled, camo-wearing, gun-toting, J6 type guy.

  4. My final thought just before I turned her off mid-speech was that she is just Trump’s type. She might need to grow her hair a little longer and definitely up the makeup and false eyelashes, but with a little grooming to his satisfaction, she could be his VP choice. She made my skin crawl.

      1. Of course he picked her. Mark Burnett taught him well. His shadow presidency must end, or “Hair Furor” (hilarious from comment above!) will end the USA as we know it. Of course that’s what his [dwindling] base says about we liberal folk. MAGA’s utilization of this dilemma is brilliant, but also doomed.

        1. I certainly hope his base is dwindling. And I hope the courts will get moving on his 91 (!) felony indictments. But I fear there are some voters who will be attracted to and emboldened by his indictments (“unfair persecution”) and (I hope) convictions.

Yep, I meant to comment above on “Hair Furor.” A real classic!!

  5. I only had to watch a minute or two to get it. It’s just demagoguery, pandering to fears and concerns and promising that a strongman leader will make it all better, somehow, don’t bother me with the details. Big Brother will make it all better, who needs the rest of the world. It’s full of strange people who are not like us. Orwellian.

    1. It’s deeply disturbing to me that young people — or anyone — is being taken in by Trump’s narcissistic, autocratic, often-incoherent bluster and lies, not to mention his crooked business practices, his womanizing, etc.
