This is yesterday’s sunset view from the University of Colorado’s TundraCam. That tiny gray peak centered on the horizon and framed in pink is Pikes Peak (elev. 14,115 ft), about 90 miles to the south. The TundraCam (elev. 11,600 ft) is located on Niwot Ridge near Nederland, Colo., and is one of my favorites. Tranquility is the word there. You might see an occasional hiker or some elk in the fall. And once I zoomed in on what appeared to be some construction work around the entrance of an old mine.
The camera is controllable by the viewer and can be rotated, zoomed, aimed up and down, etc., although distance (?) makes it respond very slowly. The TundraCam and others along Colorado’s Front Range (including those on Pikes Peak) are featured elsewhere on Pied Type.

. . . I miss Pikes Peak . . .
Thanks for the intro to TundraCam.
I’ll bet you do. You moved to Hawaii, didn’t you? Or maybe that was somebody else.
Yeah, I’m kind of a webcam nut. But it sort of gets me out and about and into the mountains.
Yes, that was us, in 2016. We came back in 2019. We are now in Southern Illinois.
By the way, there’s an annotated screenshot on my webcam page that will help you locate Pikes Peak with the TundraCam.
ooh-
Pure escapism and a great way to end the day.
