  1. That maxim has always been true. However, in the nuclear missile/digital age, having time to cogitate can be problematic. Congress hasn’t declared war since WWII. DJT appears to be declaring war on Venezuela and outing the CIA at the same time. There is an adjective that describes him well: capricious.

    1. Isn’t there some compact that says it’s war if you attack another nation’s vessels in international waters? Trump must just figure Venezuela isn’t big or strong enough to stop him. And yes, one capriciously launched nuke and there will be no time to repent.

  2. johnthecook…let’s get real people. Those supposedly drug boats are not displaying any Ensign on their boats indicating that they are from Venezuela or any other country. They profile as a sea-going vessel capable of evading detection, except by the most sophisticated surveillance equipment. Their past performance profile has proven they will bring drugs and contraband into America without prior approval, to the detriment of the American people. They have seen the Trump Administration is not putting up with the harm they are bringing to us, yet the persist and continue to challenge our resolve. If they are from Venezuela, why doesn’t their government stop them? I believe it’s because they can’t or won’t. Why doesn’t a group of our congressmen form a welcome committee to welcome them to AMERICA AND SEE FOR THEMSELVES WHAT KIND OF GIFTES THEY WISH TO SELL US? This is my opinion.

    1. Seems to me the right way to go about this is to intercept the boats when they enter US territorial waters, board them, and determine who they are and what their cargo is. Prior to that there’s no way to be sure.

  3. johnthecook…since most these ships/boats have the capability of going “submarine” to avoid visual detection as they enter coastal waters, they have already proven they will unload their cargo in the dead of night, in obscure locations that are not usually monitored for illegal activity. They know how to do their job and are willing to take the risk of being taken out by anyone who does not want them and the danger they represent wherever they go.

    1. Check the video (:12), John. Only one was a (semi)submersible. The others were open boats where you could see the occupants. What I don’t understand is if Trump’s so determined to kill the drug runners, why he actually sent two survivors back to their home countries of Ecuador and Colombia.
