Pick a side

  1. johnthecook…The UCMJ is the standard and rule of Law in all Branches of the Military in America. Is it the spirit of the law or the letter of the law? It is the presiding judge who has the final authority, but even that judgment is subjected to scrutiny, and can be overturned.
What we are looking for is the absolute TRUTH, and that my friend can only be found in God’s Word. We know it, but don’t want to admit it.

    1. Woe be it to any enlightened person who decides not to obey military orders because he/she thinks the orders unlawful. It’s not quite the same for a field commander ordered to blow boats out of the water without positively identifying the occupants. Ironical, is it not, that one of the season’s big movies is “Nuremberg”? The main reason given by top Nazis for their war crimes was that they were just following orders. As far as God goes in this question, He is unlikely to be of any help. The biblical record citing warfare is mixed and full of violence, particularly in the OT.

      1. Also, it may not be entirely coincidental that “The American Revolution” is airing this week, reminding us of the problems created by kings and the resulting reactions of the general populace.

      1. johnthecook…you are most correct PiedType. I am also watching the PBS mini-series The American Revolution. I find it very informative and realize now I should have paid better attention to my “American History” class way back in the mid 1960’s. What we don’t know or have forgotten is killing America today. I do believe that every one of our political leaders who are in a government position today, need a refresher course!

        1. My American history class came about five years before yours. I had a good teacher and paid attention. And yes, many years later, I’m sure I’ve forgotten all but the highlights. You said it well: “What we don’t know or have forgotten is killing America today.” Ken Burns tells of things that never made it into our history books … and should have. Let’s hope he hasn’t been too late.

  2. It’s being reported in all those things I read that rumpT’s insane rave has backfired badly for them, doing more to simply draw attention to the video than garner agreement.
    Ha !!!

    1. True. It was originally posted on X, formerly Twitter, and I never go there. Without his truly demented reaction, I might still not know about it. He not only brought it great attention, he demonstrated how truly unhinged and dangerous he has become. Of course, I’ve long thought so, but now he’s made it unmistakably obvious to everyone.

  3. I am so proud to have Jason Crow for my congressman. The reaction by the president and the resulting threats are very telling: our service members all take an oath to support the constitution and are trained to not obey ILLEGAL orders. I have been very concerned that the very people who help determine if an order is legal or not have been removed, and now this extreme reaction out of the White House makes is a lot more believable that illegal actions are in the works. It seems like this public service video was done just in time, doesn’t it.

    1. Every time I see Jason Crow on TV I think of you and get jealous.

I’ve wondered if this video was put out because of all the so-called drug boats being bombed in the Caribbean. I don’t see how it can be legal for one nation to arbitrarily bomb another nation’s boats and civilians in international waters. Seems to me the only legal action would be to wait until they enter US territorial waters, then apprehend them and try them in court.

(What’s next? Does this mean ICE and the police can just shoot drug runners in our streets without arresting them and trying them?)

I understand the average serviceman or woman might not be in a position to know whether an order is legal or illegal, but certainly their commanders should know.

      1. I’m thinking that the video was made because of concerns that the president might launch an invasion of Venezuela as a distraction or to place himself into a better legal position (a president can’t be removed from office in wartime is his erroneous thinking). I remember him commenting on this or accusing Biden of wanting to start a war as a distraction several times in the past. The deployment of troops into cities is also a concern, especially as we get closer to elections. The response from the White House makes me think that the concerns are legitimate.

I have such a high opinion of Jason Crow. I get to attend phone “town halls” and he is always impressive and authentic in his responses to questions from the people on the line.

        1. Yep, the Venezuelan thing and the troops in our cities were my first thoughts. I envy your representation by Crow. Gabe Evans (R) is mine. 🙁 Mark Kelly is on my short list for president in 2028. Pete Hegseth isn’t fit to shine Kelly’s shoes.

Go ahead, you can say it ...
