  1. johnthecook…IF President Trump is so very “GUILTY” of insurrection for his actions on January 6th, 2021, WHY is he not behind bars in PRISON?

    1. I didn’t say he was guilty of insurrection, although he certainly encouraged it. Those who actually broke into the Capitol I think were, at least according to the definition of the word. Trump was charged with conspiring to interfere with the election results but the Supreme Court overruled that. I won’t try to explain their reasoning. You can read it for yourself.

(Trump did intend to go to the Capitol that day, but the Secret Service refused to take him)

  2. johnthrcook…Do we really know our government and fully understand how “we the people’ are to be governed? Is the Monrow Doctrine a document that is still in force? Are there other documents that are strong guidelines that should be followed, but are ignored out of sheer ignorance because we don’t like them? Why the strong interest in Venezuela and now Greenland? Is the USA now like the war machine as Germany was at the start of WWII?
I don’t fully understand what President Trump is doing, but he must be doing something right, because there are enough intelligent political leaders left in Washington DC to bring him down, because he is NOT above the law! This is my opinion.

    1. I’ve never paid much attention to US foreign policy beyond the general idea of you leave us alone, we’ll leave you alone sort of thing. I couldn’t tell you offhand what was in the Monroe Doctrine, but I’m guessing it didn’t say anything about us invading a foreign country in order to take their oil, which I think is what Trump has done in Venezuela. (Capturing Maduro was a convenient excuse for being there.) It says a lot that Trump didn’t tell Congress ahead of time what he was going to do but he did talk to the oil company executives. As for Greenland, I think he’s got an eye on taking it just because he thinks he can. He has no more right to it than he has to Canada.

Republicans in Congress won’t vote to bring him down as long as supporting him is to their advantage. When they start realizing they might get voted out of office in November, they may change their minds

Go ahead, you can say it ...
