  1. Nothing, to this outlander, will ever explain the American Divide.
Yes, it’s growing less and less equal, but it will always, always be there: Americans wanting money and power before anything, and Americans wanting equality and freedom before anything. Not a white vs black; not a country vs city – a selfish vs selfless.
    Imnsho, of course.

    1. I blame a great part of it on the Supreme Court’s infamous Citizens United decision in 2010. In essence, the Court declared that corporations are people and that restricting their donations to political campaigns and politicians was unconstitutional. Mitt Romney smugly explained it: “corporations are people, my friend.” Money and power have been winning ever since.
I keep thinking I’ll write about it one of these days, but then the notion passes. I’m angry enough without digging up the past.

  2. and not only is it about money and power vs. freedom and equality, but this is also where the racism comes in. they do not want minorities to have the money and power, they want the white people to have it exclusively

    1. Not all the white people. Only the wealthiest ones. The high price of gas alone, due to Trump’s impulsive, ill-conceived Iran war, is wreaking havoc with folks out here (western states) where daily commutes to work can be very long. Just this evening the local news was talking to a man whose daily commute is 115 miles one way. The same story included a young Black man who said he and his wife alternate with dinner one night and fasting the next to stretch their food budget. Then there are the cuts to Medicaid, child care, and other family assistance programs. But hey, there’s plenty of freedom and equality for those with money and power.

  3. After I retired from working in 1999 I had time for reading, including the two-volume biography of Adolph Hitler by John Toland. What the poster says about Hitler is correct. Like the current Trump administration, Hitler’s was drunk on power. He was very popular for boosting Germany’s economy and ethnic pride. Trump’s base is infatuated with his strong-man image, never backing down.

    1. I took time to verify the statements on that poster before I decided to post it. I had no idea Hitler had done all that prior to setting up the camps. It makes the Trump administration even more ominous than I feared. One might almost think Hitler’s acts have been the blueprint for Trump … (and if not for Trump himself, then certainly for Stephen Miller)

  4. I’ve said no from the beginning, and I continue to say no. What’s disappointing is how they all pander to that man. There are a few, but they have certainly taken hits.

Go ahead, you can say it ...
