Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was arrested today on multiple federal charges, including conspiring to sell Barack Obama’s vacated senate seat to the highest bidder. The sleaze factor here rises so far beyond the top of my sleaze-o-meter that I won’t bother trying to recount how bad this guy is. You can find all the details on just about any news site in the world.
Selling a senate seat, eh? Talk about corruption run amok. Somebody shoulda known you never trust a guy with hair like that.
As a former 23 year resident of the Most Corrupt State in the Union, I can tell you that selling the Senate seat just scratches the surface of the corruption that has been going on in Springfield for decades. These are the guys that took the Tammany Hall concept and morphed it into something ten times more vile and repulsing. Thankfully, there is still an honest man in Illinois: Federal Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald. My props to him for continuing to promote justice in the midst of the sleazy underground of U.S. politics. Obama has gone on record saying that if elected, he would retain Fitzgerald. I hope he keeps his word.
