Of legends

  1. Well done. (You picked the perfect picture, too)
Maybe the problem is that those who saw it – lived it felt the impact and show how it changed the life and the world….those who have always had space flight see it as ordinary
    Sad in so many ways

  2. Far be it from me to take anything away from Neil Armstrong. He was a hero of the first order because he was a rational hero. He took risks, but those risks were calculated by a smart man backed up by large teams of smart people – his triumph was a calculated triumph of modern organization and a modern country coming together as one cultural entity. Let us not forget that it was the challenge of a common enemy that inspired that effort, a collective interest that we would do well to create again without that motivation. Can we ever do it that way?

  3. I was using stumble upon when I came across the news of his death and nearly fell off the elliptical. I hadn’t been paying any attention to the news. I’m still rehabilitating from my family “vacation.” I was shocked. I suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later. Who’s left that’s stood on the moon now, I wondered. I’m sure they’ll all be gone by the time we set foot there again, and that’s incredibly sad.

Moonbase Alpha had it all wrong.
