‘In the Shadow of the Moon’

I’m currently watching “In the Shadow of the Moon” on the Science Channel and don’t remember seeing it before. Made in 2007, it’s a 2-hour show about the U.S. space program in the ’60s and early ’70s, with lots of commentary from many of the men who flew our Apollo missions. Neil Armstrong is not among them, but the recollections of Cernan, Bean, Aldrin, Lovell, Mitchell, Schmitt, Young, Collins, Scott, and Duke about what was going on back then are fascinating. Lots of rarely seen footage, as well. These are firsthand accounts from the men who were there, and we are reminded at the end of the show that they are the only ones on earth who have been to the moon. Their perspective is unique. A very worthwhile program if you haven’t already seen it. And don’t miss “One Giant Leap,” a new tribute to Neil Armstrong, on both the Science Channel and the Discovery Channel.
