Have you visited Google Zeitgeist? It’s a compilation of the “most searched” items on Google in 2012. I landed there because my son sent me a link; it seems Denver was the third “most searched” city in Google maps. Can’t imagine why. Lost tourists/skiers/vacationers? Most searched international travel destination from the US? Toronto. Most searched “What is …”? SOPA. Most searched cocktail? Margarita. Most searched US politician? Paul Ryan. Most searched images? One Direction. Most searched TV show? “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.”
Sociologists should be interested. Soft science will likely be inspired to speculate further on the intermediate mind, but it is the road to mediocrity. See “vast wasteland” for context. IMHO.
Scary, isn’t it, how many people care about creatures like Honey Boo Boo? I wonder how sociologists would explain that?
