I didn’t watch the Women’s March on Washington today. I’d hoped it would be a huge success, but I just don’t have the will to watch a lot of live coverage from DC.
So imagine my amazement and delight when I finally looked for some pictures this evening. Unbelievable! I started with the Denver Post, which had a stunning time lapse video of the crowd here. Then I scrolled through a gallery of photos at the Washington Post.
And then I went to the New York Times and scrolled through their gallery. And scrolled. And scrolled. And scrolled some more. I couldn’t believe all the cities that were represented. And I had no idea there would be marches around the world. I was in tears before I got half way down the page. But still there were more images. It took some minutes to scroll all the way down the page, and I was a mess by the time I got to the bottom — to a photo from Antarctica.
I feel much better than I did a few days ago. I’m one of millions upset about Trump’s election, not just here but around the world. I can’t express how heartened I feel.
Thank you Washington, New York, Los Angeles, Denver, Boston, Chicago, Paris, London, Atlanta, Seattle, Toronto, Fairbanks, Sydney, Auckland, Tel Aviv, and so many, many others. And all the way down to Antarctica.

I went to the march in San Jose. Early in the week 7,000 had signed up to come. By Friday the number had risen to 15,000. Today the SJPD estimated that 25,000 were there.
Have hope my friend. You’re not alone.
Apparently that sort of thing happened all across the country. The whole thing just kind of mushroomed.

I was moved to tears of solidarity and sisterhood by the overwhelming response. We will not accept a PG – pussy grabber as a leader. He is an example of the kind of man women warn their daughters to run from.
Yep, for me it has nothing to do with politics. It’s all about what a disgusting human being he is.
There is a restoration of hope in the world today.

I did the same thing, scrolling scrolling and wow–I was in tears, too. I was so glad to see it. I didn’t even know one was near me (no access to the internet or t.v. for a few days), and had to work. If I hadn’t, I would’ve been there–I really would have. This is one march I would have been itching to go to years ago. I’ll be looking at the 100 days site and see what I can do in the meantime–and I’ll take off if I have to for another march, if needed.
I don’t do social media or maybe I’d have seen it coming. But I was absolutely overwhelmed by the turnout. A blubbering idiot by the time I got to the bottom of the page. Probably just as well I didn’t watch on TV all day. I’d have been a basket case. I’m so grateful to the younger women who are still marching for the same things I marched for in the ’70s. And saddened that there is still cause for such marches.
Yes, I agree. Shouldn’t we be past this by now? Shouldn’t we be free to be ourselves and be protected and have proper care without hurdles or violence? I am elated at the outpouring of support, but like you, sad that it has to happen even now.

I marched in Portland, Maine. Over 10,000 showed up, maybe even 15-20,000. What an amazing day for America and the World!
I can’t thank you enough. I can’t imagine what it must have been like to actually be there and be a part of of a worldwide demonstration. Mind-boggling!

It appeared to be quite orderly and sane.
Wish the organizers kept some of the celebs away from the mike – Ashley Judd often sounds a bit deranged ( long history of that and wild emotionally charged words detract and diminish the message.Surely she can see that.) Also wish the men had let the women talk – women do not need men putting words in their mouths – women can have ideas and express them just fine. (Shiver – reminds me of all the me speaking in pro-life marches/protest. Sometimes men should just shut up)
Wasn’t watching live so didn’t see any of the speakers. I don’t know why celebrities always think what they have to say is somehow more important or meaningful. It isn’t. They’re just people like everybody else, and these were everyman and everywoman marches. These were the ordinary, everyday people like you and me. Don’t know why anyone needed to speak, actually, other than to give marching orders.
