Photographer Ken Boyer captured this unbelievable scene as lava gushed from Kilauea’s Fissure 8 on June 15, 2018. If you were thinking you could easily outrun those creeping flows we’ve been seeing in the news, you’ve another think coming. And so do I. This looks like something straight from the bowels of hell.
Wow! And the people walking in front of the flow just reaffirm that the video is being played at a normal speed.
Yep, plus you can hear bits of their conversation at normal speed. My first thought, too, was that the video had been sped up like some I’ve seen. Scary as hell.
I’d love to have been able to get up close and personal like those two intrepid travellers. That would be a real thrill.
Apparently they knew they were safe, and seeing a volcano in action, up close, would be fascinating. Still scary, but fascinating.
and worth the risk
Looks like the scariest disaster movie I have EVER seen…and it’s REAL!
You’re right! Easy to imagine a scene where rivers of lava like this are rushing toward, say, LA, and Bruce Willis is tasked with saving the city.
Ooooooohhhhh YES! I love a movie with Mr. Willis in it.
He may be my favorite actor. Living, anyway. Years ago it was Steve McQueen. Who needs superheroes?
Exactly!
