Now it begins. Trump “restored peace” to the streets of LA by sending in the National Guard (and later, the Marines). So it was only natural that he do the same thing for crime-ridden Washington DC. What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, right?
Claiming a public safety emergency, he’s ordered a federal takeover of the DC metropolitan police, reinforced by 800 National Guard troops. This despite the fact that the DC crime rate is reportedly down sharply.
So, what’s next? What’s it going to be? Bringing peace to the nation one city at a time? Or why waste time — just send the National Guard, bolstered by the full-time US military, to every city simultaneously. That way the evildoers won’t be able to run around staying one city ahead of the law. There’ll be no hidin’ place.

As a DC area resident until 2023 i am compelled to note that these are the same National Guard that Trump would NOT timely send to the Capirol on January 6 2021.
Oooh, I’d not even thought of that. Frankly, I think the man should have been impeached, convicted, kicked out, and imprisoned for what he did and didn’t do that day. And now, of course, he’s doing everything he can to distract attention from the Epstein files … and the more he tries to distract, the more certain I am that he’s in those files very prominently.
I worry that this is the first step in taking over cities that are Democrat. What’s next–Chicago? Denver?
It could even be a prelude to putting the entire country under federal authority, one city at a time. And yep, he’d go for the biggest blue cities first. I’ve seen lots of mention of NYC and Chicago. Yes, Denver is blue, with local and state authorities being told not to cooperate with ICE. Actual laws to that effect, I think. Not that it would make much difference if he calls in both the National Guard and the military.

I just heard on MSNBC that all the cities that Trump mentioned targeting are run by black mayors. It gets even scarier.
Why am I not surprised? Hispanics will be next. Any immigrants. Anybody he doesn’t like when he wakes up tomorrow. On the other hand, he may change his mind an hour from now.
That’s what I’m counting on: his being distracted by something else, although he seems pretty fixated on “fixing up” U.S. cities.
