The American support for Israel derives from the Bible, seems to me. I’ve recently been reading Exodus, chapter 34, thereabouts, because I came across a statement about there being a second set of ten commandments, different from the first ten. Turns out, (surprise!), it’s subject to interpretation. But, in chapter 34, verse 15, God says to Moses, “Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land . . ,” and so on, supporting the idea of the Israelites being his chosen people and having the right to the land.
There’s a lot of weird stuff it there, including not eating goat meat boiled in its mother’s mild and God banning yeast, who knows why? Anyway, I think the Palestinians have a case in the controversy. Just another example of how religion has caused strife and evil in the world. Christopher Hitchens would agree if he were here, I submit.
It was unspeakable.
Before Bibi’s insanity took hold, I simply couldn’t work out why anyone would prefer an Arabic ’cause’ over a Jewish one.
