One of the most interesting things about having a blog or website is seeing where your visitors come from and what links or searches brought them to your site. In the last day or two it seems I owe Real Clear Politics an indirect “thank you.” They ran a small item and video about Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano’s commenting on the new Arizona immigration law without having read it. Although they weren’t entirely accurate in quoting her, she did say (a) she had not “reviewed it in detail,” but (b) it’s “not the kind of law I would have signed” and “it’s a bad law enforcement law.”
My point, however, is that in the comments that followed, Pied Type was mentioned as a place to find the law. Interesting, since I only posted links to the law, not the full text. For whatever reason, a lot of people seem to have found these links a quick and easy way to get to the law itself. That’s gratifying. I’m a firm believer in reading a document for yourself, if possible, before voicing an opinion. (Particularly if it’s a short, easy-to-understand, highly controversial piece of legislation and you are a high government official being questioned by a U.S. Senator — on TV. And I also find it a good idea to make sure your quotes are accurate if they are going to accompany the very video you are quoting.)
First Cafferty, now this. You hussy, you.
