Back in my day, chalk came mostly in skinny little white sticks and was used primarily on classroom blackboards (green boards hadn’t been introduced yet). Outdoors, chalk was used almost exclusively for drawing hopscotch grids on sidewalks or driveways. Times sure have changed. These days sidewalk chalk comes in big fat sticks for tiny little hands and in a rainbow of colors for artists of all ages. As this photo shows, chalk is not just for hopscotch anymore.

wow! We have contest here sometimes, too. These artists are just amazing
The art itself would be accomplishment enough. Doing it on the sidewalk would be brutal.
no kidding – just incredible. And artist that will do this knowing it will disappear – bet they are fun to talk with – and their stories!
