It definitely helps — in the daytime. The folks who get log-jammed on this road coming back Sunday night from their ski trips can’t see anything but taillights. It’s just about the only route to all Colorado’s biggest ski areas, with almost all the skiers coming out of Denver, and the Friday night / Sunday night traffic creeps are legendary. Everyone knows the road needs to be widened by at least one lane in each direction — except for most of its length there’s no room for more lanes. It’s predominantly 2 lanes in each direction. The engineers have been scratching their heads over it for years..
