The “royal baby.” Ack! Seriously, is there anything I can say about the new prince that hasn’t already been said ten thousand times, ad nauseam, by our media? As though Americans care. Obviously the media thought it was the story of the century, but I’ve yet to come across an American who gives a flip. A few share my opinion that, hey, it’s really sweet that a nice young couple had a healthy baby. But aside from a brief birth announcement — one not from a fake town crier — the interest ends.
I don’t get it either PT. Apparently, if you go by media reports, we’re all totally fixated on anything to do with British Royalty!
Obviously the media are fixated. Too fixated to notice that the rest of us are not.
I suspect that their attention is riveted on those buying the ads that keeping them on the air!

Count me among those who don’t give a flip. Aside from wishing good health to all new mothers and their babies I have no particularly good feelings toward the British royal family. It’s hard to think of another group that feeds at the public trough the way they do.
Wish I could remember the exact term I heard from one commentator. Something like “world’s wealthiest anachronism,” but much more clever.
The Royal family has devolved into a state-sponsored tourist attraction, but it’s pretty effective from what I hear. American tourists tiring of Kardashians will willingly come to see these national exotic pets, put regularly on display replete with 18th century regalia. But, how odd it is to legislate that certain blood lines are superior to the rest! Naming the child George is appropriate, I think. King George III would be proud.
Despite our history with King George III, I have a tough time knocking the name George. My older brother is named George. Still, he’s not a “national exotic pet.” I always feel sorry for anyone born into the royal family. Imagine being an exotic pet against your will.
