Today, November 11, is Veterans Day. Originally known as Armistice Day, it was to remember the moment the World War I armistice between the Allies and Germany went into effect — at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. November 11, 1918, was to mark the end of the “war to end all wars.” Unfortunately, as we all know, Americans have continued to serve, to fight, and sometimes to die in one war after another. The price of freedom is high.
“May we think of freedom, not as the right to do as we please but as the opportunity to do what is right.”
—Peter Marshall
