The Nevada monolith is gone. But it didn’t disappear in a cloud of smoke. Nothing as poetic or dramatic as that.
Yesterday the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) removed the mirrored monolith that appeared near Las Vegas last weekend. The removal was understandable since the monolith was attracting a great deal of attention to an area designated as a wildlife refuge. Its continued presence posed a danger to both the refuge and would-be visitors.
Covering nearly 1.6 million acres, the Desert National Wildlife Refuge is the largest US wildlife refuge south of Alaska and is the largest intact habitat for desert bighorn sheep.

The monolith was taken to and stored at an undisclosed location while authorities decide what to do with it. Still unidentified are the persons responsible for erecting the structure.

I won’t take long for the aliens to figure out where it is and beam it back to their ship.
True. And I’m sure they’re in a hurry to get it set up someplace else.
Oops!
Easy come, easy go. Well maybe not so easy but we’ll probably never know.
What next? A monolith in a crop circle?
Shhhh, don’t give them any ideas.
It was nice while it lasted.
Yep. Definitely fun, but I’m glad it’s gone. Maybe the next one won’t be in a protected wildlife refuge. That was not a smart idea.
