This is “Veiled Glory,” another stunning photograph from Erik Stensland, Estes Park, Colo. I love the gleam of moonlight on the lake despite the clouds. Lake Nokoni and Ptarmigan Mountain are in the western part of Rocky Mountain National Park, in an area I’ve never visited.

  1. Oh that’s just gorgeous PT! 😀

    • It’s all about being in the right place at the right time … with the right equipment (40 lbs. of it, I was told) and the skill to use it. Not to mention tramping all over the mountains in the middle of the night or the middle of winter. I appreciate these photos so much more when I think about what it took to get them.

Worth mentioning: The hike to Lake Nokoni is 18.6 miles round trip.

  2. Wish my feet were up to the distance – haven’t been here either. Just stunning. Thanks – I needed this!
