Tsunami in the sky

"tsunami in the sky" when supercells collide

I hadn’t visited Dark Roasted Blend in quite a while, but remembering a fascinating photo series they ran on the world’s most dangerous roads, I decided to drop by for another visit. I was greeted with the photo above. Wow! It’s only the first in a collection of similarly spectacular, unearthly photos. They make the average thunderstorm look positively benign. The post is dated Aug. 5, 2011, but if you haven’t seen it, you must check it out. And don’t miss the link to storm chaser/photographer Mike Hollingstead’s blog, “Extreme Instability.” Looks like lots more to explore there.
