It’s that time again. You know, that time when Pantone announces its Color of the Year for the coming year and I comment on the ridiculous, over-the-top verbiage they use to describe it. But this year is different. Yes, the text still gets ridiculous, stepping way out there on evolving society and gender fluidity, etc., but this time they’ve named two colors instead of one, and I love it. Or them. Or the blend. Or something. I’m not crazy about pink, but once it drifts into roses, lavenders, lilacs, and blues, I’m hooked.
Rose Quartz and Serenity. And Pantone did get one thing right. The colors convey tranquility and serenity, things I constantly seek but especially appreciate right now, given the news in the last week and the general chaos of the season.
Who can argue with those lovely colors? The blend of lavender, pink, blue is wonderful. Especially with the overlay of snow…
It’s very relaxing, isn’t it? I have similar colors in my bedroom, along with some appropriately soft greens.
I vote for the top picture: now that’s soothing and serene!
Yep, it was just what I needed today.
colors reflect human desire for beauty which is must needed in today’s pains of terrorism and wars.
Not all colors reflect a desire for beauty, but certainly these do, especially now.
Ooh, which means the fashion industry is going to be pumping out pastels year round. Should be interesting!
Then I’ll be right in style with the pastel shirts that I wear year round. Hurray!
Diverse blend of colors, like the diversity of our lives.
The tranquil side of our lives, at least. There are other sides and other blends to represent them. But I like the diversity. So much more representative and inclusive than a single shade of a single color.
