Florida photographer Doc Jon thought he’d photographed an osprey in flight some 400 feet above the beach. He had. And having tried to pick birds from the sky with my own camera lens, I know how difficult that can be.
But on closer inspection, Doc Jon realized he’d captured more than just an osprey in flight. The osprey had a shark in its talons. And, remarkably, the shark had a fish in its jaws. The Weather Channel called it a once-in-a-lifetime picture, and who could disagree?
Doc Jon captured the scene on April 12 during a walk along Madeira Beach, west of St. Petersburg, Fla., and posted it on Facebook.

I’m absolutely stunned by the unlikelihood of this ever happening (fish+shark+osprey), much less a photographer being there to record it.
I’m confused. Is this ANOTHER camera capture of an fish/shark/Osprey combo? So twice this same guy captured the same scenario?
No, I imagine he had a motor drive and got multiple exposures in the same few seconds. It’s the best chance you have to get a decent photo when shooting moving wildlife. He got the bird coming toward him, overhead, and then going away. All the pics are his.
