Hateful but legal

A while back I posted a video of a political ad I found particularly refreshing in our current nasty political climate. Now here’s one that had me running in from the other room to make sure I had heard correctly. I had. And “deeply disturbing” is the nicest thing I can say about it. In a country where free speech is protected, freedom of religion is guaranteed, and the rule of law is supposed to prevail, there’s no law against garbage like this. But somehow, some way, there ought to be.

  1. Not long ago I heard some political pundit talking about some candidate or another and what he said certainly fits Renee Ellmers: “The beauty of being stupid is that you don’t realize that you’re stupid.”

  2. I forgot to mention that I don’t think we need to criminalize speech. Especially this kind of outlandish, hateful, narrow minded, idiotic, self serving, banal bigotry. If it was illegal, we’d have a much more difficult time finding out just how irrelevant and stupid Ms. Ellmers is. As it is now, we find out without any effort at all.

... and that's my two cents
